Aledo ISD Empower 2022

This workshop is hands-on and will walk through the workshop process in real time with educators over the course of an hour and a half. Teachers will follow along and experience a real workshop while learning the ins and outs of how to start, manage, and grow a workshop that serves all students.

Educators will learn:
● The workshop format and the power of independent choice in reading and writing
● Understanding and re-contextualizing the mini-lesson as a catalyst for student engagement
● Applying and learning about the relationship between reading and writing and how to use this connection every day in class (with practical real-world tips)
● How to manage and what to expect from reading and writing conferences
● Tracking growth and assessing progress

While this workshop is operated within an ELAR framework, teachers from all content areas will be taken into account when addressing how to apply these practices in the classroom.
